Yamanaka Factors

The Yamanaka factors are a group of genes that can reprogram adult cells into a versatile state called pluripotency, allowing them to “reset” and develop into any cell type in the body. These factors include OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, and c-MYC. In mammals they have been shown to restore youthful DNA methylation patterns, transcript profiles, and tissue function, without erasing cellular identity.
